Here, the Streets Have Names

I know several of you read Quo Vado? via a aggregator, but if you’ve looked at the blogroll recently, you’ll see these odd categorization of blogs by street names. Given I wanted to post something tonight and don’t really know what I want to write, here’s the explanation of the thought behind where you might be.

Adelbert Road - Adelbert is a road and a administrative hall on the Case campus. The students, including JM, can be found here - these folks are hard at work letting trying fit more stuff into their brains.

Applewood Road - I grew up on Applewood Road. I lived in the old homestead until I headed to SLC for my first job in the ‘real’ world. Mom moved to the new homestead three weeks after I left. These are the family blogs. I’d call them parenting blogs, but really all of the folks here talk more about creating and sustaining a family than they do parenting so I like the name better.

Boggs Road - Boggs is the first road I lived off of in the Atlanta area. The bloggers here live outside of academia and off of Applewood Road.

Euclid Avenue - In Cleveland, Euclid Ave divides the north side of the Case campus from the south side, the number lovers from the word lovers, and it’s where every freshman bets his life at least once on a Cleveland driver. That’s once during orientation and routinely for at least another four years. I’ve placed the links to the professors here - not that I want them playing in traffic.

Michigan Ave - The great shopping mile (or at least it once was) houses blogs dedicated to product opinions and hints for using products.

Pleasant Hill Road - PHR was once, not so long ago, a dirt road and considered BFE to the folks living in the ATL. These days you can find just about anything you want along the length and more stoplights than you can shake a stick at. PHR is something of a holding/catch all category until I put a blog someplace else.

Sixteenth Avenue South - Sixteenth Avenue South is the proper name of Tennessee’s Music Road. Two of my favorite podcasts are here. More will be added later.

State and Main - There’s no particular reason I chose these cross streets to hold the law and political blogs other than official sounding title.

If you feel missplaced, please let me know.

I do usually read you in Bloglines, and I missed this post when it went up, so I'll jsut comment now. I think this is the coolest system for organizing a blogroll I've ever seen. I love that it conects to places from your past and situates the bloggers into those places. When I looked at the sidebar today before reading the explanation, I thought they were all Atlanta streets since we've got many of these same street names and I figured I just didn't recognize the other ones. But I really love that you've assembled a virtual map that ranges across the country too.

Ok, I know I'm going on too long about this and you're going to think I'm loopy or something, but I really do love this idea. I've had some people comment on how well-organized my 'roll is and next time someone does, I'm sending them here.
